Ahead of their deployment to Afghanistan in March, the British military's 3 Commando Brigade are undergoing intensive training at home. Helping the soldiers to prepare for life in Helmand Province are the Afghans themselves -- as the focus for British forces moves away from conflict and towards reconstruction and training up local security.

London's Olympic venues near completion
Work on the main venues for the 2012 Olympic Games in London is nearing completion, with organisers claiming they are "on time and on budget". But questions remain about the fate of the 500 million pound (600 million euros) Olympic Stadium, which faces demolition soon after the Games.
